ABOUT US
CIMEL is a French manufacturer of remote sensing solutions (photometers, LiDARs, AAMS and radiometers) for atmospheric and environmental monitoring from more than 50 years.
These instruments are widely recognized as solutions with high reliability and efficiency, even under extreme weather conditions.
Its core mission is to be the link between Scientific Community and the Industrial World by developing innovative technologies & operational solutions in order to make the invisible visible.
CIMEL is also well-known for being the exclusive supplier of sun/sky/lunar photometers for NASA-AERONET global network dedicated to aerosol monitoring through satellite and ground-based systems.
Thanks to their expertise, they developed complementary solutions, called LiDARs, using laser technology. They provide additional data such as backscatter profile, vertical stratification analysis or PBL.
By combining data from photometers and LiDARs, CIMEL has developed the AAMS (Automatic Aerosol Monitoring Solution), allowing to obtain high added value parameters such as localization, characterization and concentration profiles.

Passive instruments measure radiation emitted by the Sun/Sky/Moon and also the surface reflectance, while active instruments have their own light source (laser).
